Valencia, Spain`s third-largest city, can boast a very rich history, one that has spanned two full millennia. First conquered by the Romans, then the Moors, then ruled by the houses of Aragon and Bourbon, this mercantile city on the Mediterranean has served a number of roles throughout history. Did you know that twice, very fleetingly, Valencia was even the capital of Spain?

The rich history of Valencia is evident in the Ciutat Vella, which houses buildings that date back to the Moorish invasion and squares that date from Roman times. At over a quarter of a square mile in length, this historic area (`Old Town` in Valencian) is one of the largest of its kind in Europe. That`s not even mentioning the state-of-the-art arts and sciences park, the beautiful beaches, and one of the largest urban parks in the world, all located in the city limits!
