An island of tropical beauty, endless beaches and a two thousand year history! Kos offers large and gentle seashores, endless beaches in all shades of blue with all the neighboring islands nearby and within sight. Although known for the fabulous nightlife of Kos Town and a plethora of beach resorts, the island also offers some of the best archaeological sites to be found in the Mediterranean.
Kos is the birthplace of the father of medicine, Hippocrates, born on the island around 460 BC and founder of the Great School of Medicine of Kos. It is an island soaked in history and ruins, with Kos town`s fortress and the Asklepion (Hippocrates` ancient sanatorium) and millennia-old Corinthian columns gathering weeds at the roadside. Adding to the variety of the island is a host of small villages tucked away among pine trees on Mt. Dikeos, a peaceful forest in Plaka and the rugged landscape of Cape Kefalos.
