Jonkoping is one of the oldest trading centers in Sweden, dating back from the Middle Ages. Set south of Lake Vattern, the city has a long beach walk and beautiful surroundings with a lot of lakes and forests. Jonkoping offers a wide variety of cultural venues, theatres, museums (among them the unique Match Museum), cinemas, a modern concert hall and art galleries. Leisure and sports facilities are available to suit every taste: four golf courses, a racket sports centre, ice rinks, and indoor adventure baths, sandy beaches in the city centre, and nature trails and paths within easy distance. Jonkoping is also a good starting point to explore other destinations in Sweden, such as Astrid Lindgren's world in Vimmerby, Granna - home of the famous Swedish candy Polkagrisen - and the amusement park Liseberg in Goteborg which are all within a 2 hours drive.
