We recently went to Athens and Istanbul for our four year anniversary. The trip was spectacular. We stayed at the Athens Gate hotel in Athens, and the location could not have been better. It was about a block from the metro, and the major attractions were all within a few minutes walk. The staff was incredible, taking the time to explain every feature of the room, give tips, and take care of arranging excursions. They were all incredibly professional and courteous. Oh, and the view from the rooftop restaurant was simply breathtaking! In Istanbul, we stayed at the Hotel Aziyade, another amazing property. It`s location in the old town was fantastic and it also included a rooftop restaurant with amazing views. It was easily within walking distance of most of the things on our `to-do list.` However, the best part of the hotel`s location was that, while in a central location, it was also in an authentic neighborhood, allowing us to wander the streets and witness real life Istanbul. We could not have asked for a better trip.

5 - Athens and Istanbul by Air

We had a wonderful trip to Athens and Istanbul, with no real issues whatsoever!! We would unequivocally recommend our trip, and booking it through European Destinations.

We booked all our travel (from JFK-->Zurich-->Athens and then Athens-->Istanbul and then Istanbul-->Munich-->JFK) through European Destinations and everything worked very smoothly; we had seats next to each other on every leg of the trip and smooth flights with no delays at all. We also really liked the service on the European Airlines that we were booked on.

We also took the hotel recommendations from European Destinations; and were really, really pleased with our experiences. Both the hotel in Athens (Acropolis Select) and Istanbul (Erten Konak) were great--clean, quiet, quaint, and with good breakfasts. The hotels were also really well-located to the major tourist destinations in each city. There were no issues with the European Destinations vouchers, so things really couldn`t have gone more smoothly on that end either.

Overall everything was really enjoyable. We we`re very pleased with both the quality and service at the two hotels we stayed at. No problems with our flight schedules either. Both hotels were good at providing info on various tours in the area and we eneded up booking two seperate ferry tours one at each hotel we stayed at.
