Day 1 to Day 7

Day 1: Sunday - arrive Madrid

Welcome to the Spanish capital, Madrid. Relax or take a stroll along tree-lined boulevards before meeting up with your fellow travelers. This evening, enjoy a welcome soft drink and orientation with our hostess and your traveling companions.

Accommodation: NH Collection Abascal or similar

Day 2: Monday - Madrid and Toledo

After breakfast, depart for your tour of Madrid. Drive through the main avenues of the city, highlights include the magnificent fountains of Neptune and Cibeles, the Alcala Gate, the Plaza de España, where we will see a panoramic view of the most representative buildings. You will visit inside the spectacular Royal Palace which is still in use for Goverment ceremonies.This afternoon, travel south to Toledo. It was the capital of Spain during several centuries. In the 13th and 14th centuries, Muslim, Jewish and Christian populations lived together peacefully becoming a great cultural center. This afternoon, walk along its narrow streets where the history can be felt in the air. We will visit the Cathedral from outside and St. Tome Church inside (where you`ll see an El Greco masterpiece). Return to Madrid for overnight. (Breakfast)

Day 3: Tuesday - Madrid, La Mancha and Granada

After breakfast depart to Granada. En route, enjoy a short stop in Aranjuez to see the magnificent gardens full of centenary trees of this old summer residence of the Spanish kings. Continue south to discover the large flat region of `La Mancha,` the land where Don Quixote lived his crazy adventures, also Spain`s largest wine producing area. Visit a traditional wine producer where they will show you some curious secrets, like the influence of the moon and stars in the biological process of the vineyards. Finish with the tasting of three different wines with tapas of ham, local cheese (very reputed in Spain) and bread, the best way to taste these wines. After continue to Granada. (Breakfast, Dinner)

Day 4: Wednesday - Granada, La Alhambra and Generalife Gardens, Seville

After breakfast, enjoy a morning guided city tour to visit La Alhambra, the best example of the sophisticated Royal life in the Nazari Islamic kingdom from the 11th to 15th century. You will encounter numerous halls and spectacular `patios` (courtyards). You will also visit the famous and beautiful Generalife gardens with its fountains. Afternoon continue to Seville. (Breakfast, Dinner)

Day 5: Thursday - in Seville

Today enjoy a guided tour in the morning to visit the unbelievable Gothic Cathedral, the largest in Spain and third in the world, where famous explorer Christopher Columbus is interred. You can walk up the Giralda tower (striking minaret of the former mosque) to take in superb views over the city. Then a walk by Santa Cruz Quarter, a maze of small alleys and squares with peaceful tiny gardens is an invitation to rest. In the afternoon you will enjoy an introductory Flamenco lesson dancing with a professional dancer. Optionally, you may enjoy a professional Flamenco show (to be purchased locally, not included). (Breakfast, Dinner)

Day 6: Friday - Seville, Cordob, return to Madrid

After breakfast, visit an Andalusian horse farm (yeguada) to see a normal day of training and learn about the breeding and taming of these amazing horses. Afterwards, travel north to Cordoba. Cordoba, during the Roman age, was an important destination, but during the Muslim domination it reached its maximum splendor - especially in the 9th and 10th centuries. During this period Cordoba became the capital of the Caliphate and was the most populated town in the world (almost 1 million). Take a guided morning city tour to visit the Mosque, considered one the most beautiful. Then, a walk around the Jewish Quarter with its narrow streets and Andalusian `patios.` Return to Madrid in the afternoon. (Breakfast)

Day 7: Sunday - depart Madrid

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your departure flight. (Breakfast)

In the last few years, Madrid has gained the reputation of being one of Europe's most active and attractive cities for its nightlife and cultural activities. Capital of Spain since 1562, Madrid's museums host, among others, Dalís, Mirós and Picasso's Guernica. Barcelona

Barcelona, the old Roman Barcino, is Spain`s second city, always on the biting edge of fashion, architecture, food, style, music and good times. Walk its narrow streets and wonderful plazas, or along the Ramblas, stretching from Plaza de Cataluña to the Harbor, encompassing the magic of the city: stalls full of books, birds and flowers. The city`s most powerful monuments open a window onto its history: the intricately carved edifices that comprise the medieval Gothic Quarter; the curvilinear modernism (Catalan Art Nouveau) that inspired Gaudí's Sagrada Familia; and the seminal surrealist works of Picasso and Miró, found in museums that peg Barcelona as a crucial incubator for 20th-century art. The recent restoration of the port area began with the development of a harbor for the Olympic Games of 1992. New modern squares, designed by leading artists such as Miró and Barceló have created a new style alongside Gaudi's modernist buildings. Now the city is ready to show every visitor how it has been transformed into one of the most moderns and active cities in Europe.
