Trip Summary
2 nights in Milan

Milan is Italy`s window on Europe, its most sophisticated and high-tech metropolis. La Scala, its landmark, is one of Europe's most prestigious opera houses. In addition, it's the site of several world-renowned annual trade fairs. Milan is one of Europe's top shopping cities, with an incredible concentration of sophisticated, high style boutiques - and that's only fitting because Milan is the dynamo of the Italian fashion industry. Dolce & Gabbana, Ferré, Krizia, Moschino, Prada, Armani, and Versace have all catapulted to international stardom from design studios based here. Inevitably, shopping is of almost religious significance.

Recommended Stay: 2 nights

Must See`s:
The Last Supper by Michelangelo, The Duomo, Pinacoteca di Brera, Quadrilatero d'Oro, Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, Scala museum and theatre, Piazza Fontana. Arco della Pace, the churches of Santa Maria delle Grazie and San Lorenzo, Corso Venezia and Piazza San Babila and Sforzesco Castle.

2 nights in Lake Maggiore

Stresa is a small town on the shores of Lake Maggiore, where relaxing is the main activity for tourists and locals alike. The lakeside promenade will give everyone a chance to admire both the lake scenery and the grand lakeside hotels. The Borromean Islands, where Hemingway set his famed A Farewell to Arms, are a short boat trip away, and it would be pity to miss them.

Recommended Stay:
At least 2 nights

Must See`s:
Isola Bella, Isola Madre, Isola dei Pescatori, Villa Pallavicino Park, Villa Taranto Botanical Gardens, Lagoni di Mercurago, Mottarone Mountain, Castles and Fortresses

2 nights in Verona

The city of Verona in the province of Veneto, Northern Italy, rivals Venice in terms of magic and romance. Visitors turn here in numbers, making this town the most visited of the province after Venice. Aside from Romeo and Juliet's strong pull, Verona is a charming medieval and Renaissance city, with numerous medieval palazzi, churches, towers, and centuries-old piazzas. Among other objectives of interest are the Roman amphitheatre (the third largest in Italy), Arco dei Gavi, Basilica of San Zeno.

2 nights in Rapallo

This is one of the largest municipalities on the Eastern Riviera, laying sheltered from winds and currents in an inlet on the Golfo del Tigullio and first inhabited in pre-Roman times by the Tigulli of Liguria. There`s a picturesque castle in the sea, a small harbor and a fine seaside Lungomare Vittorio Veneto, a traditional red-brick promenade lined with palm trees, skirting the semi-circular harbor. Along the promenade are art nouveau buildings, restaurants, bars, and hotels. In summer small music groups sometimes perform in the early 20th century band shell, Chiosco della Banda Cittadina. The bathing areas are flanked by the two tourist ports, which can berth up to 900 boats. The town also has. There are excellent sports facilities, such as the Olympic swimming pools, the horse-riding club, minigolf and rifle shooting club. Also well known is the 18-hole golf course, one of the most popular in Italy, which is situated next to the ruins of the Valle Christi, a Cistercian monastery founded in 1204.

Recommended Stay:
At least 2 nights

Must See`s:
Rapallo Castle (built in 1551 to guard against pirate attacks); Historical Center (beautifully painted buildings and pedestrian shopping streets; Saline Gate (remaining from the ancient walls, separates the historic center from the seaside promenade); Basilica of Saints Gervasius and Protasius (started in 1118, Its bell tower is a leaning tower); Municipal Tower (clock tower from 1473); Church of Saint Francis (1519); Oratorio dei Bianchi ( collection of processional crosses); Gaffoglio Museum (In the former Clarisse convent); Museo del Merletto, in Villa Tigullio (huge collection of lace from the 16th to 20th centuries with over 1400 items); Sanctuary of Montallegro (reached by cable car, the most important religious center in the Tigullio area); Monte di Portofino Nature Park (with paths leading into the hills, looking down onto the coast and offer a fine view of typical Mediterranean flora: olives, holm oaks, gorse and, higher up, chestnut trees.

2 nights in Florence

Florence, the capital of Tuscany, is one of Italy`s most atmospheric and pleasant, retaining a strong resemblance to the small late-medieval center that contributed so much to the cultural and political development of Europe. Art treasures Michelangelo`s David Botticelli`s Birth of Venus, and Raphael's La Velata draw millions of visitors every year. Throw into the mix fabulous architecture (the Duomo with Brunelleschi's dome, Giotto's campanile, Santa Croce), fine restaurants and earthy trattorie, plus leading designer boutiques and bustling outdoor markets, and the city of the Renaissance becomes quite simply one of the world`s must-see sights.

Recommended Stay: At least 2 nights
Must See`s:
The Duomo Complex, Church of Santa Croce, The Cathedral, The Uffizi Gallery, Galleria dell`Accademia, Ponte Vecchio, Palazzo Vecchio, Pitti Palace, Boboli Gardens and so much more!

Italy

For centuries, Italy has drawn foreign visitors, mostly for its architectural, artistic and scenic splendors. Italy can truly be all things to all people. For some the Italian experience is full of passion and excitement, urbanity, crowds and noise. For others it is a quiet rural idyll where the traditional life can be experienced. Its great cities are replete with fantastic works of art ranging from the Roman times to the Renaissance. Even then, many visitors will forego the rich attractions of culture in favor of some of the most unspoilt beaches and spectacular mountains in the world.
