Following is our suggested itinerary, please note that you may extend the number of nights in each city:
Day 1: Malaga
Málaga Gibralfaro - Privileged overlook
The alcazaba (fortress) is an example of the Andalusí legacy. The Parador, surrounded by pine trees and located in front of the alcazaba, sits on the Gibralfaro Mountain, where a unique view of Málaga can be enjoyed. Other places of interest are the Cathedral and its museum, the Sanctuary of the Virgin of Victory and the Picasso Museum.
(Malaga to Ronda - 73 miles - 1 hour and 40 minutes)
Day 2: Ronda
Eagle`s Nest
Vertiginous from all sides, Ronda was occupied by the Celts, Romans and Muslims. Ronda has managed to preserve the Arabic baths and archeological remains at Puerta de los Molinos, the Santa María la Mayor Church and the Casa del Gigante. Other places of interest include San Sebastian`s minaret and its beautiful bull ring.
(Ronda to Cadiz - 92 miles - 2 hours)
Day 3: Cadiz
Atlantic Dream
We arrive in Cádiz, known in the past as Yazira Qadis. To see the city in its entire splendor, it is best to climb the Tavira Tower and look down on its many small plazas and the Cathedral. Walk along Caleta Beach, which has Santa Catalina Castle on one end and San Sebastián Castle, which was built on top of a Muslim tower, on the other.
(Cadiz to Carmona - 98 miles - 2 hours)
Day 4 and 5: Carmona
Arabic Fortress
Churches, palaces and fortified walls make up the artistic heritage that is Carmona`s historical district, a city built around King Don Pedro`s castle. The parador is located in this XIV century Arabic castle, which has gorgeous views, one from the swimming pool that looks onto the fertile lowland along the Corbones River. This city is perfectly situated to serve as a base for day trips to Seville and the surrounding "white towns" like Marchena, Utrera, Osuna and others.
(Carmona to Cordoba - 68 miles - 1 hours 15 minutes)
Day 6: Cordoba
The Caliph`s Dream
Capital of the Omeya caliphate, in this city we can discover the Mosque-Cathedral and Medina Azahara. Also of interest is the Synagogue, the walls surrounding the old city, the Roman bridge, the royal stables and Loosing oneself in the small, winding streets allows the traveler to truly experience the flavors of Al-Andalus.
(Cordoba to Madrid - 247 miles - 4 hours)
Day 7: Madrid
Madrid is a city of great contrast and tendencies that provide a feast for the eyes: the Old City, the innumerable churches and convents, the Madrid of the Hapsburgs, the Royal Palace, the Puerta de Alcala, the Retiro Park, every façade, corner, statue or park has its own particular charm. It`s museum mile offers more masterpieces per square foot than anywhere else in the world; the stellar Prado with its El Grecos and Velazquezes; the Caravaggios and Rembrandts at the Thyssen-Bornemisza; and the Dalís, Mirós and Picasso's wrenching Guernica, at the Reina Sofía.
