Day 1: Dublin City (14 kms)
Arrival Dublin Airport, pick up car and transfer to the city center. Time to relax from flight. Afternoon to explore Dublin city, trace its history from early Viking origins, through the mediaeval magnificence of St. Patrick's Cathedral. Visits to Dublinia, Guinness Storehouse, Jameson Irish Whiskey Distillery, Trinity College and much, much more. Suggested Hotel: Butlers Townhouse, 44 Lansdowne Road, Dublin 4.
Day 2: Cashel, Co. Tipperary (175 kms)
Leave Dublin and drive through the rich farmland pastures of Ireland's midlands. Perhaps visit the Irish National Stud and Japanese Gardens, where you can see the newborn foals grazing in the fields along side their mothers. Pass through Cashel, where you can visit the imposing Rock of Cashel, one of Ireland's most important ecclesiastical sites, which rise dramatically from the flat countryside. Suggested Hotel: Dundrum House Hotel, Dundrum, Cashel, Co. Tipperary.
Day 3: Kerry Region (215 kms)
Leave Cashel and travel through the medieval city of Limerick, where you can visit the Hunt Museum an exhibit of one of Ireland's greatest private collections of art and antiquities. Continue on to Dingle, stopping off at the pretty village of Adare en-route. Suggested Hotel: Dingle Benners Hotel, Main Street, Dingle, Co. Kerry.
Day 4: The Dingle Peninsula (145 kms)
This morning the breathtaking landscape will unfold in front of your eyes today as you drive around the Dingle Peninsula before arriving in Dunquin, on the westernmost tip of the peninsula, to visit the Blasket Center. Here you will discover what life was like on the remote Blasket Islands. This living history museum explores all the dimensions of island-living, from the land, the sea, and the language, to the weather and the seasons, as well as the distinctive character of the Blasket Islanders. Weather permitting you can embark on a 2/3 hour boat trip around the nine main Blasket Islands. The islands are remote, unspoiled and unpolluted and spectacularly beautiful and are home to an incredible number of breading seabirds, with the surrounding seas home to Dolphins, Porpoises, Atlantic Seals and even the occasional Whale or Orca. Return to Dingle for overnight. Suggested Hotel: Dingle Benners Hotel, Main Street, Dingle, Co. Kerry.
Day 5: Cork (270 kms)
Leave Dingle today and travel through the pretty town of Kenmare before driving over the spectacular Healy Pass arriving in Glengariff where you can take a short boat trip to Garnish Island to see the `sub-tropical` gardens. Because of a unique Gulf Stream influence, you can see many plants you would normally expect to see in much warmer climates. Alternatively travel along the unspoiled West Cork coastline and spend some time in Kinsale, known as the Gourmet capital of Ireland. Continue to East Cork for overnight. Suggested Hotel: Bayview Hotel, Ballycotton, Co. Cork.
Day 6: Cork (90 kms)
Staying close to your hotel, you can visit the Cobh Heritage Center, which tells the story of Irish emigration and in particular the Titanic whose last port of call was Cobh. You can also visit the Old Midleton Heritage Center which where you can learn all about making Irish whiskey. Suggested Hotel: Bayview Hotel, Ballycotton, Co. Cork.
Day 7: Return to Dublin (290 kms)
Traveling along the south coast, why not visit the world famous Waterford Crystal facility. Continuing along the east coastline, en-route to Dublin, visit the old monastic settlement at Glendalough or Powerscourt House and Gardens. Suggested Hotel: Butlers Townhouse, Dublin.
Day 8: Return Home (14 kms)
Departure from Dublin Airport.
