Customer Feedback
Thank you for writing. It gives me the opportunity to let you know about the experiences during our trip. The trip was fantastic. We had a great time and southern Spain is beautiful. When we arrive at Madrid, we got early at the Hotel Catalonia Moratin and since there were no rooms available until 12:00, we decided to walk around the area, have something to eat and come back. When we did, the rooms were not ready and the lady in reception told us that they did not know when they would be ready, so she offered to put us in another of their hotels in Calle Goya, the hotel paying for our taxis. Since we had been travelling for over 11 hours, and wanted to freshen up, we accepted her offer and stayed at the Hotel Catalonia Centro for two nights. The rooms were OK, but the reception area was a little cramped and the luggage situation a little difficult. Also the hotel was not as close to the main attractions as Moratin was. On the third morning, we started our journey to the south of Spain and as I said before, it was a wonderful trip. All the hotels we stayed in were very good, centrally located, and we had no problems with any of the reservations. On the last leg of the trip we returned to Madrid for an additional night before returning home. We had reservations again at the Catalonia Moratin and when we arrive (this time we arrived at 2:00 p.m.) we were told that they had problems with some of the rooms and had to be locked because they could not be used, and again they offered us rooms at another of their hotels. We explained what happened the last time, and that we had chosen this hotel because of its location, and we did not want to be so far from that area again, especially since we only had one evening left in Madrid. We were told that the hotel was 5 minute walk from the Moratin. We asked if they could take our luggage to the hotel and after inquiring, the girl told us that there was no one available at that moment, but that they would pay for a taxi to take it there. During her conversation inquiring about the luggage, we over heard her saying that the Moratin was completely full, apparently over booked, not that there was anything wrong with the rooms. She called a taxi and when it arrived the luggage could not be fit in it. Taxis in Madrid are small, are not allowed by law to carry luggage in the front seat and we were six adults travelling with two suitcases per couple (you do the math). When asked for another taxi, the girl said that she could not pay for more than one taxi, and offered to bring herself (walking) the luggage that could not fit in the taxi. We reminded her that we were in this situation because of their innability to honor our reservation and that it was her responsibility to solve our problem, not the other way around. After a very nasty moment, we decided to take three cabs and moved to our new hotel Catalonia on Calle Prado, which was very close to the Moratin. On arrival we were very happy with the hotel and the attention we got. Our cabs were paid in full and we were given superior rooms for all our trouble. We had a lovely stay and the staff was very helpful. We believe that the first time we arrived at the Moratin, the hotel was also over booked, not that we got in earlier, and that is why they insisted on us accepting another hotel. The difference was that the first time they were nice about it, and we were very tired, and we accepted. What I don`t understand is why they put us in a hotel so far away from every attraction, since they had others to choose from. Whatever their reasons, our experience with the Catalonia Moratin was not very positive. I don`t know if you have received any other complaints regarding this hotel, but we recommend you delete it from your list of hotel choices. When we made our travelling plans, Gina was my contact throughout the process and she was very helpful and prompt in all our inquiries and arrangements. I would certainly recommend your services to any of my friends and family. Thank you for your attention. Arelis R.
