Cordoba

Cordoba offers a powerful multi-cultural sampler. Founded by the Romans, Cordoba's glory peaked under Moorish rule, who built the beautiful Grand Mosque, or "Mezquita". The Christian rulers decided to leave it standing and built a cathedral in the midst of its rows of arches and columns. Cordoba's treasures also include the Alcazar, built by the Christians in 1328; the Calahorra Fort, originally built by the Arabs, which guards the Roman Bridge, and the ancient Jewish Synagogue, now a museum.

Wonderful! My wife and I will be recommending European Destinations to all our friends. Hotels- comfortble, very friendly and helpful staff, 1 block from the subway, clean comfortable rooms with large comfortable beds and great air-conditioning. Hotel Serrano (Cordoba)- again very helpful staff, great location, clean. The High speed train from Madrid to Cordoba and back were on time, clean and comfortable. Thank you for a great vacation. My wife and I are not wealthy. We worked extra jobs and saved for a long time to be able to take this trip and you, European Vacations, help bring it all together. :) John D
