Frankfurt

For many, Frankfurt is primarily "Manhattan", city of finance and skyscrapers or only as a transit hub, but a closer look reveals a city of many charms: picturesque houses of the beautifully restored R�merberg in the city center, the unique "Museum Mile" along the banks of the Main river, traditional cider pubs in Sachsenhausen, shops galore in the elegant Goethestrasse and the "Fressgass", and a truly world-class cultural and arts scene. Day 1 to Day 14

Day 1: (Sunday) Frankfurt Arrival at Frankfurt airport and transfer to the hotel. The rest of the day is free to spend at your leisure. We recommend an optional boat excursion on the Rhine from R�desheim to St. Goar (regular and private services available). Frankfurt is the financial and commercial heart of Germany, a city full of fascinating contrasts between modern development and historic landmarks. Day 2: (Monday) Frankfurt - Heidelberg - Freiburg In the morning we travel from Frankfurt to Heidelberg. Visit the famous castle ascending with the cable car and enjoy a sightseeing tour of its historic city center. Idyllically located on the shores of the Neckar River, Heidelberg is Germany`s oldest university town and one of the most popular destinations in the country. If weather conditions allow it, you will take the scenic Schwarzwald Hochstrasse to Freudenstadt. The next stop is Freiburg. Accommodation: Park Hotel Post****
Day 3: (Tuesday) - Freiburg - Lake Titi - Lindau - F�ssen After breakfast enjoy a sightseeing tour of lovely Freiburg, famous for its beautiful church tower. Next you travel to Lake Titi, nestled in the legendary Black Forest. You will have the full `Black Forest experience`: Make your own Schwarzw�lder Kirschtorte and savor it afterwards with a cup of coffee and gaze at a short presentation on the cuckoo clock production. Continue the tour to the small island of Lindau in Lake Constance, which boasts spectacular views of the Alps. Depending on weather conditions you will take the Alpine road from Lindau to Oberstaufen and Immenstadt to the final destination F�ssen, the southernmost point on the tour of Romantic Germany. Day 4: (Wednesday) Neuschwanstein - Wieskirche - Oberammergau - Ettal - Garmisch-Partenkirchen You begin the day with a visit to Neuschwanstein Castle, built by Ludwig II, the notorious `Mad King`. In the afternoon, travel to Oberammergau, famous for its Passion Play and lovely crafts. Along the way, visit the Wieskirche Church before continuing the tour to the Ettal Benedictine Abbey. Taste the delicious cheese on a visit to the local cheese factory. Today`s final destination is Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany`s winter sports capital and site of the 1936 winter Olympics. Day 5: (Thursday) Garmisch-Partenkirchen - Innsbruck - Linderhof - Munich In the morning, enjoy a sightseeing tour of Innsbruck, Austria, located in the Inn valley, in the heart of the Alps. As an alternative excursion you may also ascend to the top of Zugspitze (instead of Innsbruck, not included). In the afternoon you travel to Munich and visit Linderhof Castle. This is one of the 3 castles built by King Ludwig II of Bavaria and the only one where the king actually lived for a significant amount of time. Accommodation: Hotel Excelsior****
Day 6: (Friday) Munich After breakfast, you visit the city`s main attractions, concluding the tour at the Marienplatz square with its famous clock tower. The capital of Bavaria state, Munich, is famous for its Oktoberfest, which is annually celebrated in September. The afternoon is free to explore at your leisure. Day 7: (Saturday) Munich - Zurich Breakfast at the hotel. Around noon transfer to the train station. Travel by train from Munich to Zurich. Upon arrival in Zurich transfer to your hotel. Accommodation: Swissotel Zurich****.
Day 8: (Sunday) Zurich Enjoy a sightseeing tour of Zurich and its main monuments. Take in fabulous views of the Alps and Lake Zurich from the H�henstrasse. We will stop briefly in Rapperswil, the quaint City of Roses. On our way back to Zurich you enjoy a lovely cruise on Lake Zurich (no guide). Arrival at Z�rich-B�rkliplatz. Make your own way back to the hotel. Accommodation: Swissotel Zurich****.
Day 9: (Monday) Zurich - Luzern - Mount Titlis - Interlaken Departure for Luzern. Short sightseeing tour and free time to explore on your own. At noon we continue to Engelberg. Take the rotating Rotair cable car to the top of Mount Titlis and its spectacular glacier. From an elevation of 3.020 m, visitors enjoy spectacular views of the Central Alps. In the afternoon we continue to Brienz and visit the local wood carvers. Our next destination is Interlaken at the foot of Mount Jungfrau. Accommodation: Royal St. Georges****
Day 10: (Tuesday) Interlaken - Bern - Gruyeres - Geneva From Interlaken we drive along Lake Thun to Bern, located on the Aare River, overlooking the Alps. After a sightseeing tour of the city, we continue to Gruyeres, a picturesque village with its impressive medieval castle. Accommodation: Ramada Encore***
Day 11: (Wednesday) Geneva - Montreux - Zermatt Enjoy a sightseeing tour of Geneva and visit the beautiful parks along the lake, the cathedral and the European headquarters of the UN. Then we travel to Lausanne and Montreux, passing the magnificent Chillon Castle. Free time to explore Montreux. In the afternoon we travel up the Rodano river valley as far as T�sch. From here you continue by narrow gauge train to Zermatt, nestled at the foot of mighty Mount Matterhorn. Dinner at your hotel. Accommodation: Hotel Alex****
Day 12: (Thursday) Zermatt - Nufenen Pass ? Lugano In the morning you are free to explore at your leisure or undertake an optional excursion to the top of Mount Gornegrat (not included). In the afternoon you return to T�sch where you board the bus for a spectacular drive over the high Nufenen mountain pass to Lugano. Accommodation: Grand Hotel Eden***
Day 13: (Friday) Lugano - Lake Como - St. Moritz In the morning we travel to Italy to visit magnificent Lake Como. Travel along the shore of the lake via Menaggio to Chiavenna in the Beggaglia valley. In Castasegna we cross back into Switzerland and complete today?s tour in the ski resort of St. Moritz. Day 14: (Saturday) St. Moritz - Vaduz - Zurich In the morning we travel via Fluela and Davos to Vaduz, the capital of Liechtenstein. Free time to explore this charming city. In the afternoon we continue to Zurich via the Toggenburg region, famous for its picturesque houses. Arrival at Zurich central station or the Swiss�tel around 5 p.m. End of tour program.

Zurich is a stunningly beautiful with a charming old town where cobbled streets of the 12th-century Old Town are pristin and the blue trams run reliably. The avant-garde Dadaist movement started here in 1916. Zurich also attracted Irish author James Joyce. The city's extraordinary museums and galleries, confirm the city's position as Switzerland's spiritual, if not political, capital. There is also a hip, less conventional side to Zurich.
