SHERRY TRIANGLE - WHERE TO STAY

Jerez de la Frontera

Jerez de la Frontera is the largest city and the most-visited of the three cities in the Sherry Triangle. It is known not just for sherry but for flamenco dancing and music and also for the famous dancing horses that are trained at the Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art. Many of the accommodation options you will find are east of the road that runs past the school (the Avenida Duque de Abrantes) and south of the royal fairgrounds. There are also many options toward the center of town, around the Plaza Mamelon and the Plaza del Arenal in particular. Outside of town, for those who like sports, there are accommodations near the Montecastillo Golf Club and the Circuito de Jerez car racing track.

El Puerto de Santa María

El Puerto de Santa María is a much smaller city than Jerez, and most accommodations you will be interested in will be within walking distance of the train station. For those who want to be a little closer to the beach, the Vistahermosa area is where you want to be, within walking distance of beaches and the local port called "Puerto Sherry". (How cute!) Many delicious restaurants can be found along Puerto Sherry and, in town, along the Calle Ribera del Marisco just opposite Parque Calderon and the Plaza de las Galeras Reales.

Sanlúcar de Barrameda

Many of the accommodations in Sanlúcar are within walking distance of the charming Plaza de San Roque, with others closer to the Guadalquivir River and the Playa de Bajo de Guía. Take a walk along the Feria de la Manzanilla fairgrounds and not only will you find the area's top sights, you will begin to find, as you walk away from the Guadalquivir, toward accommodations and very delicious restaurants. The Calle San Juan is a place you should not ignore when trying to figure out what you want to eat, because there are dozens of great options within just a three-street radius.
